With InTERActive, starring Tera Patrick, Teravision and Hustler Video take the interactive video genre a step beyond where it's been so far, combining interactive sex with a story line.
In addition to giving the guy with the remote options for sex positions, it lets him dictate plot developments in the story of a neglected mobster's wife.
"Which adventure will you choose?" is one of the promotional taglines, along with "Technology Meets Sexuality."
Evan Seinfeld, Patrick's husband and partner in Teravision, said, "With the popularity of video games and the popularity of interactive sex videos, we thought, why not combine the two?"
InTERActive releases on March 27.
At Hustler Video they expect it to be "bigger than anything we've ever done before," according to Creative Director Drew Rosenfeld. "The pre-order numbers are way beyond our expectations. It was a huge project and it's going to be the biggest movie Hustler has ever put out, with the exception of the Snoop Dogg titles."
Patrick visited the Hustler Studios in Canoga Park Tuesday to shoot some Internet promos and talk to the media. ( photo gallery)
The question, she told AVN, was, "How could we make the Interactive movie better? We focus on giving more options to the viewers. The viewer can choose my destiny [in the story] as well as his destiny with me."
Patrick is the veteran of several interactive projects for other companies. "It was usually just you and the camera and the standard positions. Here I got to play a role and do girl-girl with Jessica Jaymes."
Male talent was Spyder Jonez (Evan Seinfeld), Patrick's habitual on-screen partner. "We did the standard positions and we added a few other positions, and I do a solo masturbation. And I get to do the Sybian," Patrick added.
The only time she had previously worked with the Sybian (a motorized dildo apparatus), was on the Howard Stern show. "And I hated it. It was kind of like a game with him and he was turning on all these different volumes and he really didn't let me sit on it. But this time I got to enjoy it."
Patrick said that she and Seinfeld had wanted to do their own Interactive for quite some time. Then Q. Roberts at Hustler Video told them, "I have this great idea. If I could make the perfect Interactive for Hustler, this is how I'd want to do it."
"And we were like, this is what we want to do for Teravision. So we kind of melded and meshed everything together."
Patrick said Roberts wanted do more of a story with this interactive venture.
"My fans really like the [interactives] that I did, but they were dated," she said. "It's been about five, six years since I've done one. They wanted me to do one that's a current one. A lot of them have been telling me they're expecting it and they're really excited."
How many story options does the viewer have in InTERActive? "A lot," Patrick laughed. "I'm not sure just how many, but there's even an option where he gets killed and buried — for being with me. My husband comes home and finds him.
"We kind of wrote the story as we went. We shot it over a period of a couple weeks. We did the sex one time and then we did one story another time. And the script got tweaked a little bit here and there because we found this scenario doesn't go with this scenario.
"And yes, I had a lot of input, even in picking out who was going to be in the movie. It was my first time with Jessica Jaymes, and that was really exciting."
InTERActive also features AVN's 2007 Female Performer of the Year, Hillary Scott. "She played my neighbor and she really gets into a lot of trouble. I think she's awesome but we didn't get to do a scene together. That's for the next one."
For that sequel, whenever they do it, Patrick promises something different, perhaps anal sex. "That's what Spyder keeps saying — 'If you do it again you gotta make it different, you gotta do anal.'"
Patrick's only anal scene for Teravision is in Teradise Island, but the upcoming Reign of Tera 3 "has another anal scene, and it's six positions. I went a little crazy that day. I was standing on my head, doing piledrivers. My fans are going to be really happy."
Patrick revealed that she recently appeared in a mainstream movie with Will Ferrell called Blades of Glory. Ferrell plays an ice skater who used to be a porn star — the only man with both a skating gold medal and an adult AVN Award (which will be in the film).
Among her other crossover events are a second appearance on the cover of FHM-UK magazine, and hosting E! True Hollywood Story: Rock Star Wives on the E! Channel. And she was featured in both Hollywood Dog and New York Dog with her precious pooch Chopper. "They told his life story. He's a bi-coastal dog. He travels everywhere. We're together forever."
