If the term "sex pig next door" was ever listed in a glossary or dictionary of some sort, chances are you would find the name Tag Adams listed right behind it. Having burst onto the gay adult scene in 2003 (after initially appearing 10 years earlier in Falcon's Billy's Tale under the name Chet Roberts), Adams immediately took the porn world by storm, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after models in the industry for his winning combination of wholesome shyness and unadulterated nastiness.
It seemed that everyone wanted Adams for a movie. Falcon wanted him back (though until recently, he had to concede to performing under the Chet Roberts moniker), while Titan, Studio 2000, All Worlds, and Red Devil were quick to follow. But it was in Chi Chi LaRue's GayVN award-winning Detention: Oral Exams 2-in a scene in which Adams submitted to being pissed on and fucked silly by scene partner Chad Hunt (both men shared a GayVN for Best Sex Scene)-and a subsequent performance in Raging Stallion's controversial Pokin' In the Boys Room (which featured oral cum shots, a rarity in the HIV-conscious world of gay porn) that Adams rose to (in)famy and cemented his reputation as a horndog clearly on a mission to push boundaries and explore his own limitations.
After winning the Grabby award in 2004 for Best Newcomer (he was GayVN nominated in the same category), Adams' star continued to rise, and a hectic schedule of personal appearances, a hot personal website, and more than 25 movies led to his recent GayVN win for Performer of the Year. Later this month, Adams will co-host (along with LaRue) the Grabbys, for which he is nominated in four major categories.
Hailing from the small town of Hanover, Pennsylvania (which, incidentally, spawned yours truly), Adams now resides in Washington, D.C., with his partner of eight years-a police officer-and is starting his own interior design business in the city. Does this mean we will be seeing less of Adams (who turned 33 on April 4) in months to come? I recently caught up with gay porn's most adorable dirty puppy to find out what his future plans are, how he feels about winning awards, and why he loves revealing so much about himself in his weblog.

Tag Adams: The best part of having one is actually getting all of the emails that are sent to me. And yes, I do answer all of them personally! I get to talk with people from all over the world through my site. Believe me, I get a very different range in email content. It really shows me how much of a following I have as well as the business. This is one way that I can communicate with my fans and keep them up to date, as they do me, on future events and films.
Going into the planning stages of my website was daunting to me. I have no computer experience to speak of. I knew the look and content I wanted it to feature and that was about it. How it got to where it is today, I have no clue. I just express myself to my Web designer and he makes it happen. I am looking to update and add a few things this year, so look out for them.
You put some pretty personal details into your blog. I'm surprised how open you are. Do you ever get into "trouble" because of it?
I put it all out there. That is just the kind of guy that I am. I am very honest about who I am and what I stand for. I do not feel that I have to hide anything or change something to be accepted as I once did. This is me. Here I am; you either like me or you don't. It has never caused any trouble; actually it allows people to see that I am honest and that I do not put on a front.
OK, on to the juicy stuff: How does it feel to be named Performer of the Year?
Well, I can definitely say that it is a weight off of my shoulders. I was at Chi Chi's table with my partner and my best friend as well as other models when Chi Chi started to read the nominees and my partner was saying, "Oh God, please let him win this or the flight home is going to be hell!" (Laughs.) I was truly fortunate to be part of this great industry and to be recognized for my work over the last year. Now, the pressure is on to keep up this image.
Were you surprised by the win in the face of so much hot competition?
I can say that I was surprised, but on the other hand, I knew what I went through the last few years of filming to bring my image to where it is now. I can truly say that I worked my ass off for this award. I am so close to many of the other nominees, so I was rooting for all of us. Just being grouped together with them was recognition enough!
Easy to say when you've won, huh? (Laughs.) You've also been nominated for the same award for the Grabbys, in addition to nods for best sex scene and threesome and group scene. Do you feel that you've officially arrived on the porn circuit?
I felt I was on the way last year when I won Best Sex Scene with Chad Hunt for Detention at the GayVN Awards, as well as Best Newcomer and Best Sex Scene at The Grabbys. [But] personally, I do not feel like I have arrived just yet. There are so many other projects I want to work on. I want to strive to make my products the best they can be.
You're frequently cited in porn mags as being someone who is seen as both an innocent boy-next-door type and a raging, filthy slut. Is this something you've cultivated, or is that pretty much you in real life?
Filming actually gave me the avenue to pursue what I really felt inside of me. I never really did water sports before filming, but once I had a taste of that there was no turning back! (Laughs.) I am still trying to put this whole innocent boy-next-door image behind me. It seems that no matter how nasty my scenes are, I am still looked at as cute! Let me know what else I can do to change this-please!
I'll put my thinking cap on. Your performance in Chi Chi LaRue's Bolt was probably one of your filthiest yet, with you the happy bottom in a group pissing "car wash" scene. Rumor has it you're looking to do more of that type of stuff...
Rumors? What rumors? This is all truth! (Laughs.) I get bored very easily and to just keep myself entertained I have to push things a bit more each time. Sometimes I start to wonder what it will take to excite me next time. The Bolt scene is one of my favorites to date. Chi Chi knows exactly how to use me! Even she tells me that I do not have to out-do myself in each film. I am planning a Zeus film with Chris Ward. This is something I would like to pursue not only for the shock value, but also for the true meaning and understanding of domination. There really is an art to this stuff!
You and I are from the same town, yet we never met until early in 2004-3,000 miles away from home. Tell me, if our paths had crossed in Pennsylvania, what kind of boy would I have met?
Well, the odds of you or anyone else meeting me would have been very slim. Coming from a small town such as Hanover was very difficult for me. I was not outgoing at all and had no real sense of self. From my early days in school, I was threatened and made fun of every day. The braces, wire-rimmed glasses, and headgear did not help matters any. (Laughs.) I just could not connect with any person or situation while living there, so I managed to survive by removing myself from all of the situations. One reason I feel I can remain grounded through this journey in porn is the fact that I am still that nerdy boy from Hanover wearing headgear and glasses, even though I am wearing a different shell on the outside. This is why we all really need to get to know individuals for who they really are, not just for what they reflect on the outside.
Aww. Unlike most porn stars, you maintain a residence totally outside of the New York/Florida/California porn communities. Is it important to you to not be so immersed in it all the time?
Believe it or not, I am still a homebody. When I started filming I was able to experience so many ways of life and situations. I was considering moving to LA where I was most of the time anyway, until I came to the conclusion that I would not be able to work that hard, play that hard and be "on" all of the time. Now, I just do my usual 3,000 mile commute from Washington, D.C., to California, do my thing, and return home. I feel this is what works for me and allows me to keep filming, and I always appreciate both worlds.
You've built up quite a catalog of performances over the past two years. What have been a few of your favorite scenes, and why?
My scene in Carny for Titan is still one of my favorites. It may have been because it was the film that started off this wild ride almost three years ago and because of the outstanding quality of work that the crew at Titan puts into their productions. Of course, my two-time award winning scene with Chad Hunt in Detention is at the top. This scene connects with me in so many ways. It was the first scene I ever filmed for Chi Chi. I was so nervous, thinking I had to perform at my best to show her that she was not wasting her time on me. This also started off my water sports addiction as well as many other fetishes. When it won the award for Best Sex Scene it just brought the entire experience together. I can't forget to mention my signature video from Arena Entertainment, Tag, You're It! My final scene in the video was so hot and aggressive that I actually had to take a few breaks to recover! What else could you say about a scene that has Andy Dill, Parker Williams, and Nick Capra using my hole!
For starters, I could say, "Why wasn't I there?" Anyway, you're going to be co-hosting the Bad Boys Pool Party this year. Any hopes or fantasies about what kinds of fun in the sun you might have while you're there? Please keep in mind that I plan on being there that weekend myself. Hint, hint.
(Laughs.) I am looking forward to this event after being part of it last year. I know that this is a "clean' event," so no nasty pig play here. I hope that we can raise even more money for LA Shanti this year. Last year was a record breaker as far as the amount raised for the organization. This event is so great because it is for a worthy cause, and it allows the fans and stars to mingle and enjoy the great atmosphere in Palm Springs.
OK, back to me. If I wanted to seduce you, what approach would earn me the most points in my favor?
(Laughs.) Having no attitude!
Got it. I noticed your calendar is a little quiet right now. Are you consciously slowing down and limiting your work in the business?
It is funny that you mentioned that. Before the nominations were out for the GayVN Awards I decided to try and lay low for a while. I wanted to try to reconnect with my friends and family and work on getting back into my design work. So I was concentrating on a few projects and appearances to support causes that I believed in. Then came the Performer of the Year win for me and things started to pick up even more than before. Look for my calendar to fill up in the next few months!
How much longer do you see yourself keeping up in porn?
I look to be part of it for a long time, whether it is in front of the camera or behind the camera. I never thought I would be here right now, so who knows where I will be years from now. That is what is exciting about this business.
What do you hope to accomplish in porn before you film your last cum shot?
I would like to go out being on top. Not as a top, but on top! (Laughs.) I was fortunate to start my film career with the best studios in the business and that is where I want to end my career as well. Of course, I would like to be remembered as one who brought many fantasies to people all over the world that may not have had the opportunities to experience them as I did. My work is for them. Well, OK, I do it a little for my selfish pleasure as well! (Laughs.)
That's OK. We'll forgive you. What future plans do you have for your site? Any fun contests or new content and/or features we should know about?
I plan to be adding a webcam so I can continue to do Internet shows without having to travel to California to do "Live and Raw" or "Falcon TV." I do sell my personal items there. There just is not a page on my site for it as of yet. So, keep posted and let me know how I can better serve you!
Oh, I've got several ideas in mind. Lastly, what have you learned about yourself as a result of your work in porn?
I have learned to be comfortable just being me. I do not have to change myself or work out more to be bigger or act a certain way to fit in. There is a world out there for everyone to be part of and experience-go get it!
