TURKEY—A year-long study by researchers at a university in Kayseri, Turkey, has found that men with excessive body fat are less inclined to ejaculate prematurely during sex than men who weigh less and are considered in shape.
In fact, reports Salon, “Heavier men were able to make love for an average of 7.3 minutes, while slender men could count themselves lucky if they held on for a mere 108 seconds.”
Researchers compared 100 men who were being treated for sexual dysfunction with 100 men who lasted longer during sex, assessing the body mass index and sexual performance of both control groups. They found that those with less control were in general thinner and in better shape than those who could sustain themselves.
Ironically, the explanation for the greater control has to do with female hormones. “Men with excess fat showed higher levels of the female estradiol sex hormone. This substance apparently disrupted their bodies' natural ‘male’ neurotransmitter chemicals and slowed their progression towards orgasm,” reported Salon.
According to the World Health Organization, the United States is the world’s third most obese nation. Turkey was not in the top ten.
