Strippers Donate to Las Vegas Schools

The Clark County School District’s Public Education Foundation received donation from an unusual source this week when it accepted a $2,500 check from the Scores Las Vegas strip club.

The club raised the funds during an Aug. 23 event called “Detention,” featuring strippers dressed as teachers, librarians and schoolgirls, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Shai Cohen, the club’s marketing manager, said the dancers stripped their school-themed costumes and offered lap dances to customers who left more than $1,000 in donations in a jar for the district. Scores then matched the donations.

Deb Hegna, the foundation’s development director, said she was happy to accept the donation.

The money, she said, will go toward the foundation’s exchange program which provides new or used computers and other materials to teachers free of charge or at low cost.

But Associate Superintendent Karlene Lee said the district was unaware of the event and did not condone the flier sent out to promote the fundraiser.

The district covers about 8,000 square miles in Sothern Nevada with an enrollment of more than 300,000 students.
