Strippers Arrested for Lewd Behavior

Three dancers at a strip club are facing charges today for allegedly performing lewd acts onstage.

Police said that three nude dancers “crossed the line” when they performed sex acts on patrons while strip club employees egged them on, according to Charleston’s Post & Courier.

The arrests culminated a two-month investigation using undercover officers at the Landing Strip club on Remount Road, a police spokesman said. Police began the investigation after receiving complaints about purported illegal activity going on at the club.

On May 12, undercover officers watched a female patron strip, then kiss and fondle a nude dancer while the woman’s boyfriend performed a sex act on the two women while the club’s disc jockey encouraged them, police said.

That same night, another dancer was seen allowing a patron perform oral sex on her in a private room at the club. Police also reported that a dancer on May 17 wrapped her legs around an undercover officer’s shoulders then pulled his head into her nude crotch and offered to have sex with him.

Police also reported other illegal activities such as a 22-year-old dancer who invited an undercover officer into a private room for a lap dance for $175. The woman was then said to have stripped nude and touched the officer in “an inappropriate manner,” offering to have sex with him.

Among those arrested for exposure of private parts in a lewd and lascivious manner were dancers Gayle “Butterfly” Carter, 24, of Summerville; Elizabeth Louise Salter, 27, of North Charleston; and Melissa Ann Smith, 22 of Summerville.

Also facing the same charges are club manager Isaac Vernon Brown Jr., 30 of Summerville; manager Wesley Ray Amos, 41, of Summerville; disc jockey Bradley Harper, 31, of Summerville; and doorman David Wayne Bourne, 46 of North Charleston.

Bail for the dancers was set at $2,000 each and $6,000 for each of the other club employees.

Tommy Goldstein, a lawyer for the club said the club’s owners don’t condone illegal activities at their club and added that they will take appropriate action if such activities took place.

Goldstein noted that the club may be closed for a few days to repair damage caused by police during their operation. He said officers broke several doors and took apart an air conditioning unit during a search.
