Stone Slams Site for Posting Celebrity Sightings

Sharon Stone and a growing number of celebrities are angry that a Web site is asking its users to give details of where stars have been spotted.

Stone told London’s The Sun that she feels celebrities’ lives are at risk from potential stalkers who could use the information provided by Gawker.com to try to harm them.

“There are so many people who think there are no rules,” she said. “They have found a way to work outside the law and be very provocative.”

According to its Web site, Gawker.com lists photos along with times and locations where celebrities have been seen, while also describing what they are wearing. In one posting, Irish actor Colin Farrell is described as wearing a fedora and “flannel pyjama pants at 4 p.m. on West 12th Street in New York.

“They’re provoking a situation and taking pictures of what they’ve provoked,” Stone says.
