Howard Stern today said goodbye to his terrestrial radio fans as he prepares to move to Sirius Satellite Radio in January.
Throughout his career, the self-proclaimed "King of All Media" became the center of attention in First Amendment issues and censorship.
Infinity Broadcast paid $1.7 million in 1995 to settle FCC complaints against Stern. In April 2004, Clear Channel dumped him from six stations over his show’s content.
Stern has been a fixture on syndicated radio across America for 20 years and heard by 12 million people daily.
Thousands of his fans gathered on a street in midtown Manhattan to listen to the final show and hear speeches from Stern, his show staff and many guests such as KKK member Daniel Carver, the squeaky-voiced High Pitch Eric and Jeff the Drunk.
Vivid Girl Savanna Samson, Victoria Gotti, Chris Rock, Yankees catcher Jorge Posada, actress Denise Rich and the Gastineau women –Brittney and Lisa also participated.
Playboy Playmate and Penthouse Pet, Victoria Zdrok, stopped by to strip for Stern, who remarked, “Your boobies look great!”
Stern asked to play a song on her ass called the “butt bongo.” He told her, “I love spanking you, bitch.”
As Howard slapped her ass, he remarked, “Your ass now is red as a tomato.”
Stern producer Gary Delabate stood up in front of the crowd to celebrate "the greatest show in entertainment.”
He thanked all the "hookers and strippers" that have appeared over the years.
“I also want to thank all the midgets with drinking problems and obese people with bad body odor,” Delabate added.
He said he started as a kid on the show and now he is a “big idiot adult.”
Stern sidekick Robin Quivers got emotional when she said, “Howard, you are everything to me. You are my inspiration every morning.”
Quivers said, “I had the greatest time and this party will continue. Howard, you are a blessing to me.”
The 51-year-old shock jock finally addressed the huge crowd, saying, “I stand before you today erect. I love you guys and it is impossible to sum up 20 years. I appreciate you the audience. We have done it all.”
Stern continued, “I am the last of a dying breed. Thank you for being in my corner all of these years. Today is fan appreciation day.”
He added, "The ride is just beginning. I want to thank my three children. They are my heart and soul. I am a lucky man because I have you the audience. Long live the 'Howard Stern Show'!”
Stern will debut on Sirius on January 9.
