Sportsheets Targets Education

Sportsheets International, a manufacturer of a diverse range of adult novelties, has developed a series of informational brochures that are designed to help both retailers and consumers.

There are only two brochures currently available, one focusing on harnesses and one that contains a variety of sex tips, but plans are already in the works to develop more.

“It’s hard to demonstrate what our products do. With say, a vibrator – you can just turn it on and let it vibrate on the counter,” Julie Stewart, vice president of Sportsheets, said. “We make products that are designed to get that spark going in a relationship again, and while the products are easy enough to use, their proper use might not be obvious and sometimes couples can use a few suggestions or tips on how to get the most out of a product.”

While Sportsheets conducts demonstrations for retailers and their staff as often possible, the informational brochures were developed in part as a way of educating new staff about what Sportsheets’ products can do.

“We like to help retailers however we can – after all, their sales are our sales,” Stewart said. “Product knowledge is a key to increasing the sales of any retail store – our brochures ensure that sales clerks will be able to answer questions and make suggestions regarding not only Sportsheets’ product lines – but about adult novelties in general.”

For instance, Sportsheets’ “Your Complete Harness Handbook” includes instructions for first-time, anal strap-on use for beginners written by adult retailer Kim Aires.

“Instead of sugar-coating everything, we tried to make it basic, clear, and educational. I raised my eyebrows when I first read Kim’s advice. She talks about pushing down on your sphincter muscle like you are making a bowel movement – but you know, that’s something everyone gets.”

Stewart notes that while the brochure does highlight the 12 different harnesses offered by Sportsheets, Airs’ advice can be helpful to retail staff or anyone experimenting with strap-ons – no matter what brand of strap-on they are discussing.

“The same brochure also includes a ton of information for consumers so that people can take this stuff home and not try anal sex for the first time and have to go the hospital or be so embarrassed that they can’t have look at their partner in the face in the morning.”

The other brochure, “Your Pleasure Guide for Amazing Sex,” includes a number of sex tips – including sex positions specific to the Sportsheets product line.
