Spike TV is scheduled to air “Hardcore: The Larry Flynt Story" at 12:30 a.m. (Thursday morning) Eastern/Pacific Standard Time, after "The People vs. Larry Flynt" movie at 9pm.
The network says the documentary will examine Flynt’s life from his early years to the present where he serves as chairman of Larry Flynt Publications and publisher of its flagship magazine, Hustler.
The documentary also focuses on his life growing up in Magoffin County, Ky., and later years when he joined the Army and went on to start a strip club in Dayton, Ohio, with his brother before establishing Hustler magazine in 1974. He went on to win a number of landmark obscenity court cases on free speech grounds.
In 1978 he was shot and left paralyzed from the waist down by a white supremacist angered by interracial photos published in his magazine. Flynt ultimately expanded his magazine empire into adult film production, Internet and television content.
