Porn impresario Mike South’s new Web site JizzHer.com is cutting out the middleman, as he says, delivering South River Video titles in DVD quality directly to the consumer.
JizzHer members can download South’s work on a scene-by-scene basis in the MPEG-2 format – the same as found on a store-bought DVD. The scenes are digital rights management (DRM) free and South is welcoming fans to burn their own DVDs.
“The idea is to allow the consumer to download exactly what they want and burn their own DVD with no hassle and no re-encoding. They can also play it back on any media player that plays DVDs like PowerDVD or Windows Media Player,” South told AVNOnline.com.
“It’s a new way to buy your Adult entertainment. Additionally, we offer complete scenes, so the consumer isn't limited to what I think should be on a DVD. By downloading only the scenes he wants, the consumer can build his own DVD.”
Membership for the site is $29.99 a month and users also get access to MikeSouth.com. South plans to have between 20 and 30 scenes available at a time, rotating old scenes in and out, and introducing a new scene each week shot exclusively for JizzHer.com.
Since the MPEG-2 files are so large, from 170-500 MB, the site is aimed at high-speed users. Those with cable connections can download a scene in about 15 minutes, while users with low-end DSL will take a couple of hours, South said.
While consumers will still see South River Video in stores, South is hoping more of them take note of JizzHer.
“It cuts out all the middlemen and the cost of printing boxes and pressing DVDs,” he said. “I pass that savings on to the consumer.”
