sosohuman to Rock On The Rox

The up-and-coming band sosohuman will begin a weekly residency at On the Rox on the Sunset Strip on Tuesday night and has extended an invitation to adult industry guests.

Antigua Pictures executives Todd and Jon Blatt are among the backers of the band, which has been described as “the best unsigned band in rock-and-roll” and is nearing completion of its debut album.

“It’s a project of ours. We’re helping the band as much as we can, the manager is a very good friend of ours,” Jon Blatt told AVN.com.

The band is made up of Brooklyn, N.Y.-natives Earl (lead singer, guitar) and Spankee (bass player), with Rob from Baltimore, Md., on drums. Rob was the first drummer in Queens of the Stone Age after Dave Grohl.

“The lead singer and bass player have been together 10 years,” said sosohuman manager Brian Hellwig. “Their producer Michael Patterson is currently producing the new Duran Duran album, and has also produced for Limp Bizkit and Anthrax.”

Top urban mixer Paul Logus (Notorious B.I.G., PDiddy, Pantera) is also working with sosohuman.

“There’s a great buzz going about the band,” Hellwig said, noting that the former Geffen Records president remarked they were “better than Green Day.” “They have a residency every Tuesday at On the Rox in the month of March.”

sosohuman’s sound has been described as a mix between Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins, and they’ve also drawn comparisons to Pearl Jam. Currently, they have songs under consideration for the new Miami Vice and Fast and the Furious 3 soundtracks.

There is a $5 cover and no list for Tuesday night’s gig, however Hellwig said, “I will buy anybody a drink on the other side of the door.” Guests should arrive by 10:30 to catch sosohuman’s set.
