The news keeps getting better for SmutDrs since the show was remade and revived earlier this year. Now, Adult Fun 411 has named co-hosts Dr. Johnny and Platypus as "The Kings of Internet Radio" in an October issue cover story.
Dr. Johnny, Platypus, and two rather fetching nurses grace the cover of that issue, with Adult Fun 411 publisher Bob Newman saying it's the first time the magazine has put anyone other than an adult film or video star on its cover in the magazine's eleven-year history.
"The Internet is growing by leaps and bounds and we here at Adult Fun 411 realize it's up to us to keep up with it," Newman said in a statement. "We are starting to see many personalities come out in Websites and to be honest; no one has more personality than Dr Johnny."
Dr.Johnny, Platypus, and public relations spokesman Kevin Godbee were unavailable for comment before this story went to press, but Dr. Johnny issued an official statement saying he was more than thrilled by the cover story and praise. "They seem to think that we are the future and I couldn't agree more," he said. "Being called the king is very cool but we are just getting started".
Newman's statement went on to say matching the SmutDrs stars to his magazine was a perfect match. "We were pioneers in the print business eleven years ago," Newman said, "and these guys are pioneering a new age now with Internet talk radio. Why not do some things together and cross promote each other?"
The cover story about the show and its madcap co-hosts was written by Cindi Loftus. The SmutDrs will return the favor, in a sense – Adult Fun 411's Tonia Ryan will appear on the September 30 show. The October Adult Fun 411 hits the newsstands and adult clubs September 19.
