CHATSWORTH, Calif. – British retail chain Nice ‘n’ Naughty has licensed eight titles from Smash Pictures for DVD distribution in the UK and Ireland.
The agreement includes six of Smash Pictures' hottest niche titles: Thai That Black Cock, Strap On My Man, Mother Lode, White Wife Black Cock 8, Clothes Freaks and Soccer MILFs. Also included as part of the deal are soft and hard versions of two forthcoming titles: Cheating Housewives 5 and Secretary's Day 2.
“We’re really anticipating Cheating Housewives 5,” Simon Prescott, director of sales for Nice ‘n’ Naughty, told AVN. “The first three installments have been flying off the shelves in the U.K. “Secretary’s Day has also done incredibly well here, and we’re looking forward to the next installment. In terms of White Wife Black Cock 8, we wanted something with Nina Hartley in it, because she’s very popular over here, and so [Smash Picture’s V.P.] Stuart [Wall] suggested that title.”
Prescott said he was saddened to see the England national soccer team get knocked out of the qualifications for the upcoming European National Championship, as the company was hoping to time the UK release of Soccer MILFs with the upcoming tournament. “It’s not that big of a deal," he laughed. "I suppose we’ll advertise something like, ‘the boys may have been knocked out, but let’s see how the girls can handle the balls.’”
While mail-order porn is illegal in the UK, hardcore titles have been available through licensed sex shops since 2000. Although adult videos must be submitted to the British Board of Film Classification for an 'R18' rating, Prescott said that he doesn't anticipate any cuts from UK censors.
“We’ve done nineteen titles with Smash so far, and eight of them have softcore versions,” explained Prescott. “We’ve been really comfortable with our relationship with them. They put out a great product and sell really well.”
Nice N Naughty also distributes releases from Wicked Pictures and Vouyer Media in similar deals. The company owns eleven licensed adult stores in the UK. In August, the company was honored as Retailer of the Year for the third time at England’s Erotic Trade Only (ETO) awards.
