Simon Wolf Productions, which effectively shut down operations in January after its library was sold to New Jersey-based Pleasure Productions, is now resuming production.
John Chambliss, Simon Wolf’s president, said the company is gearing up with a slate of new productions scheduled for this year, to be distributed under a deal with his own Aquarius Broadcasting Corporation and through yet to completed deals with other distributors.
“When I sold the company’s library, I didn’t see much of a future for adult, with all that product out there,” Chambliss said.
“But after I launched Aquarius, I saw the dramatic growth it had, so I decided to put Simon Wolf back in the game.”
Chambliss, along with partner Robert Herrera, will produce new gonzo features aimed at a worldwide market through video on demand and through standard distribution channels.
Herrera will oversee production of the company’s first two projects, one is being shot in the Phillippines, with Filipino girls as part of two new Filipina series, and a second project being developed, dubbed Malibu Hookers, which is a follow up to Chambliss’ 1993 feature of the same name.
Those titles are scheduled for release in August or September.
Chambliss said he is encouraged by the cable industry’s response to his company’s video-on-demand service.
“The VOD market has really taken of these last few years and the trick is to capitalize on the market while it’s still growing,” he said.
Although Chambliss said he was planning to develop mainstream productions when he sold off most of Simon Wolf, he says now that he has not abandoned that idea.
“I’m still interested in pursuing mainstream, but I also want to work as much as I can in developing the Simon Wolf and in bringing it back,” he said.
Simon Wolf was established in 1999. Its most recent releases include Bucking Blonde Bottoms, Sex Addicts, Spicy Young Tarts and Ravishing Beauties of Simon Wolf.
