A convicted sex offender has been returned to prison for renting pornographic videos.
Charles Slimskey, 48, had been caught renting the videos last summer while on probation for molesting a 14-year-old boy in the mid-1990s. He claimed he rented the videos for his cousin and did not watch them.
In 1998, a jury convicted Slimskey of molesting an emotionally troubled 14-year-old boy. The conviction was overturned in 2001 by the state Supreme Court. The court ruled that Slimskey's defense team was hurt by not having access to the juvenile's psychiatric records.
Slimskey was released from prison, and his case was sent back to New Britain Superior Court for retrial, which lead to a plea bargain on a lesser charge, risk of injury to a minor, and received a suspended 10-year prison sentence and five years probation.
Slimskey, who has been free on bail since November, was sentenced to seven years in prison yesterday.
