NEW YORK—Legacy adult publication Screw magazine is reviving its iconic "Peter Meter" rating system for adult movies, first introduced by founder Al Goldstein in 1968. New Peter Meter reviews will officially relaunch beginning the week of October 6.
Screw was the first outlet to offer critical reviews of adult cinema, and with the revival of the Peter Meter nearly six decades later, producers have the opportunity to receive a legendary badge of honor for their productions. Movies are rated from one to five erections, and titles earning four or more Peters will receive a custom graphic for marketing use.
Each year, Screw will recruit 10 actual consumers to review movies weekly. There are currently five positions available, and those interested may contact publisher Phil Italiano at [email protected]. (Note that a $100 fee applies to cover delivery of review titles.)
To be eligible for a review, a movie must:
• Be available for streaming or purchase without a subscription on a VOD site such as Adult Empire, AEBN or other distributor.
• Feature a plot and dialogue—not just sex scenes or compilations.
• Be produced in 2003 or later (not limited to brand-new releases).
Screw is working through a backlog of movies for review but is accepting new submissions. A dedicated web page for submissions will launch by year’s end.
All Peter Meter reviews will appear on Screw's website and in the magazine's upcoming print revival. Ratings will also be distributed to major industry news outlets.
