NEW YORK, N.Y.—Screw Magazine announced today it is offering actor Mickey Rourke $50,000 to star in an upcoming adult movie produced by Screw publisher Phil Italiano.
Rourke, a veteran Hollywood actor and '80s screen idol, recently found himself at the center of a disputed GoFundMe campaign to raise funds due to reportedly being on the verge of eviction from his Los Angeles rental home. He has denied authorizing the campaign, though the fundraiser was apparently launched by his management. As of this writing the GoFundMe had exceeded its goal of $100,000.
“In light of Rourke's recent, highly publicized financial troubles, a scandal around a GoFundMe that we still don't know if he has approved it or not, and an ‘insulting’ offer to star in a low budget film for $1,000, Italiano issued the offer to Rourke,” a Screw representative said.
"What an insult to offer Mickey $1,000 for a bit part in some low budget flick, this is John Gray (9 1/2 Weeks) we're talking about. This is Bruiser Stone (The Rainmaker)," publisher Italiano added. "I'm hoping he has more integrity than that.
"And that said, as a fellow native of Schenectady, New York, I feel it my duty to help a brother out and offer him $50K to star with one or two lucky porn star ladies in an upcoming film I'll produce."
To date, Italiano has produced “small budget films” including Beatris and the Quantum Meat Tunnel, Sweet Angel and the Purple Dong of Destiny and From Russia With Tongue.
