Scottsdale Strip Clubs Move Closer to Victory on Prop 401

Babe's Cabaret, the Scottsdale, Ariz., strip club partially owned by Jenna Jameson, and Skin Cabaret appear headed for a victory in a controversial vote on a proposition that would ban lap-dancing in the city.

Even though final results will not be released until Friday, Proposition 401 was losing by 1,300 votes or 47.4 percent according to preliminary numbers released Tuesday night, the East Valley Tribune reported. An unknown number of early and provisional ballots have yet to be accounted for, according to the report.

Jameson has taken an active role in fighting against the proposed new regulations that would require dancers to stay within 4 feet of patrons while dancing, and would eliminate lap dances. In December, she attended a Scottsdale City Council meeting in which the council voted unanimously to toughen the ordinance that regulates sexually oriented businesses.

Two proponents of the "yes" vote on Prop 401 that would enact the restrictive measures are Mayor Mary Manross and members of the Christian Center for Arizona Policy, according to published reports.

Jameson's partners in Babe's Cabaret are Vivid co-chairmen Steven Hirsch and Bill Asher, and IVD owner Frank Koretsky.
