When I reach Josh Tucker in his Orlando apartment, the solo-boy site star of the aptly named JoshTucker.com is busy doing two of his favorite things: watching reruns of The Simpsons and drinking martinis. Forgetting that there is a three-hour time difference between us, I inquire why he is drinking so early in the day. “Dude, it’s 6 p.m. here!” he replies. “It’s happy hour!”
Indeed, if anyone has reason to sound happy, it’s Josh Tucker. The adorably thin, sexy 21-year-old has defied tradition in the online porn world by becoming the star of his own solo-guy site—a feat virtually unheard of on the gay side.
It’s true: While solo-girl sites have taken off for heteros, sites with single male models haven’t done all that well. But Josh Tucker says he is hoping to change that. And as anyone can tell by looking at his well-put-together site, he’s certainly giving it the good ol’ college try.
Spotted at a bar one fateful night by AlleyBucks.com CEO John Paul, Tucker – already somewhat of a pro after filming a few solo sessions for the likes of Webcamboys.com and Menwithcams.com – readily agreed to become the star of his own show, and has become a mini-sensation in his hometown, where he frequently plucks more-than-willing admirers from bars and takes them home for a little bit of on-camera action. With his “aw, shucks” charm and youthful, rambunctious mischievousness, Tucker is slowly making a name for himself in the industry as a gay man’s dream come true: a combination of youthful innocence with a surprisingly dirty mind. And, with site memberships steadily climbing and so many of his fans clamoring to get a piece of some of that Tucker action, it’s no wonder that this, er, “shooting” star is so darned happy at this hour.

Josh Tucker: Ha! I was at the Parliament House one night, and I was running around with my shirt off—drunk. And [JoshTucker.com webmaster] J.P. and his boyfriend were sitting at the bar while I was getting a drink. And they started talking to me, and I started talking back. And next thing I know, I found out they do porn, and I mentioned that I used to do it, and we just started like that. It was like one thing led to another – just right place, right time kind of thing. I did a couple of webcam sites before this—Hotcamboys.com and MenwithCams.com. I’d go in and do three, four shows a week.
You may not be aware, but solo-guy sites haven’t exactly been a hit in recent years. Were you concerned about the demands of carrying a site on your own?
It really wasn’t like that. What I’m doing now is doing the same thing on the other sites that I worked for, just on a larger scale.
Do you feel any pressure to turn it into a hit?
I think this is going to be as good as I make it. I don’t really take well to pressure. I just let it slide off my back. It’s a little stressful at times, but that’s life. Everything is stressful. You take the good with the bad.
OK. What was your first exposure to porn? Did it have an affect on you?
God, I was in my early teens, like 13 or 14. And I skipped school and stayed home to watch the male strippers on Geraldo.
Did you think at the time that it was something you’d like to get involved with?
A little bit. It made me interested in doing it. I thought it would be fun. And then, as time went on, I got a little more free-spirited with fewer inhibitions, and the next thing you know, I’d be playing around with my buddies, and sometimes [another buddy] would watch. Then next thing you know, the person who’s watching has a camera in his hand. [Laughs.]
What was your first shoot like? Were you nervous at all?
Well, yeah, you’re always nervous the first time. [Laughs.] But then you keep doing it and you get to know the people you’re working with, and it gets easier over time.
How do you prepare for a photo shoot? Any special rituals you have?
I basically just trim everything up and make sure I’m all nice and pretty.
Do you have a preference for which type of guy you want to work with?
Yeah. I mean, obviously, about my age. Twinkish little boys, you know. They gotta be a good bottom.
Where do you get the majority of your partners from?
Actually, I meet a lot of them going out and going around. And John Paul finds some of them and screens them, then I meet them. It’s a little bit of both. Basically, I go for the whole amateur thing, and just pick them up off the street, basically. [Laughs.]
Do you find that it’s easy to convince some of your conquests to let you film them?
Not really. Especially, like, some of them … a couple of the guys we’ve done shoots wanted to get with me so bad they were willing to do it on camera. So it’s like, I tell them, “I’d love to do this, but I have my own site, and I’m worried about getting content, so I really can’t fuck anybody off-camera right now.” And that’s usually when they say, “Oh, really? Well, I’ll do it on camera.”
[Laughs.] OK. Do you ever think, “Oh no, I have to go do another sex scene or J/O scene on camera?”
Oh, Lord no. I never get tired of that. It’s too much fun.
Fair enough. Your site seems to have caught on mostly with gay surfers, but you maintain that you are bisexual. Do you plan on incorporating that aspect of your sexuality into the site more as you go along?
Absolutely, but right now it’s easier to find guys to do porn than it is to find girls. We’re working on it. We’re trying to find some girls to do it, but for right now, we’re working with what we can get.
Tell me about some of your fan mail. Have you gotten anything particularly crazy from a fan yet?
Yeah, people always want me to send them pictures of my asshole, and want me to send them different things. And some of them you play around with, like “What do you want to see that for? My face is much cuter.” [Laughs.] You just gotta know how to talk to people. You always get people that want to meet face to face. I’ve gotten recognized out at the club. People come up to me and say, “You’re Josh Tucker, right?” Then I have to go and talk with them for a minute and stuff. Then I gotta come up with a good reason to disappear. [Laughs.]
Unless they’re hot, right?
Well, yeah. If they’re hot, of course I’m going to sit and talk to them. Hell, I’ll put ‘em in a video! [Laughs.]
What are some future plans that you have for the site?
Just keep doing what we’re doing. I’m going to be starting webcam shows next week. It won’t be a 24-hour webcam. I had to get a new computer and I had to get a new camcorder, and I got the whole setup and stuff. So it’s going to be really nice. I’m going to be doing some stuff for AVS Video as well. And then after the site gets going good, I’m going to start doing DVDs and stuff.
Have you gotten any offers from porn studios yet?
Yeah, once the site went up I had six or seven offers from people wanting me to do movies in the first week. But right now, I’m more worried about getting the site up and running, and I want to make sure this is going good before I start to branch off and do other things.
Would you be interested in an ongoing career in porn?
Oh, absolutely! I’m the biggest porn freak I know! [Laughs.] I don’t have any particular models, but I’m a big fan of CorbinFisher.com. That’s the only site I pay for. I don’t really watch a lot of Chi Chi’s stuff, but mostly I like twink videos with twink action. I don’t really like those big, muscular, Popeye-lookin’ guys. I just like the cute little frat boy look.
What’s your favorite part about performing in the adult business? Apart from the sex, that is.
Man, you’re asking hard questions. [Laughs.] I guess just being able to do something I love. I like my job right now. I like doing the site. I take care of everything in front of the camera, and I have somebody else that takes care of everything behind it, ’cause I am not good at computers. I can turn it on and I can jack off in front of it, but that’s about it.
