Ron Jeremy, the most recognized porn star in the world, has re-signed his exclusive performance contract with Metro Interactive. Jeremy originally signed with Metro in 1999, and this latest extension marks the start of his sixth year with the company.
Jeremy will continue to work on new movie releases, and will represent Metro at events and conventions, in addition to appearing on their behalf at in-store signings and representing Metro in the media.
“We are delighted to continue relationship with the number one porn legend in the world,” Neil Persky, Metro’s general manager, said. “We think he is a great asset to Metro and the adult industry.”
For his part, Jeremy told AVN.com that as far as he was concerned, he’d work with Metro forever.
“I like the team, the people involved with the company. And I like what they do. They have a lot of variety, everything from big features to gonzos,” Jeremy said. “And it’s relaxed. The contract allows me the freedom and the time to go do whatever I’m going to do.”
Freedom is essential for Jeremy, who is constantly chasing small roles in mainstream entertainment, and who is in high demand for personal appearances at music events, in addition to a budding stand-up comedy career. And of course, all of that ends coming back to Metro when a show or convention comes around.
“Metro is great about letting me work with other people – as long as it’s not too often and with competitive product,” Jeremy said. “However, they are totally inflexible on consumer signings – the more mainstream stuff I do, the better the crowds are that I draw.”
