DGC PrePaid, in collaboration with content partners, Nectar Entertainment and 1st Strike Movies, announced a nationwide rollout of its DGC prepaid, point-of-purchase, activated cards to access adult content on the Net.
The cards are specific to one adult site, NectarMovies.com, and they are designed to answer fundamental consumer privacy concerns—an adult customer can purchase the DGC card in total anonymity.
“Nearly 50 million consumers don’t use credit cards at all, and an additional 45 million consumers refuse to use credit cards to conduct online purchases because of security concerns,” Steve Simmons a Partner in DGC PrePaid said. “That’s a huge segment of the market that has been virtually ignored up to now.
“With our cards a consumer can finally log on to an adult website in a truly anonymous manner.” Simmons continued. “They don’t have to give up one piece of information, so there is no paper trail. And if he pays cash, there isn’t even a credit card receipt to tie him to adult content.”
As for retail store owners, there is no cost for keeping the cards on the shelves, because they have no value until the consumer pays and a DGC card is activated. “We’ll set up everything [the retailers] need to handle it and supply them with the cards—and retailers don’t pay us until the cards are issued, so there aren’t even any shrinkage risks,” Simmons said. “Most merchants don’t have much interest in a live, prepaid card because they are easy to shoplift and even if the retailer takes the card on consignment. If the card is stolen, the retailers still get stuck with the costs.”
Each card gives users 15 days of access to the Nectar site, and they are non-renewable. Retailers can determine how much to charge for each card.
