Never mind that gay Webmasters will have chance enough to dress in drag, dance, and shout obscenities. That won’t be half as entertaining as what its sponsors are calling the first-ever Rocky Whorer Dicksure Show at the Phoenix Forum on – what else? – April Fool’s Day.
“The sponsors wanted to put something a little different together for the Phoenix Forum this year and reception to the idea was overwhelming,” said PrideBucks vice president of marketing Rainey Stricklin, whose company is one of the six co-sponsors.
“It’s a chance to get out of the typical bar scene and have a little fun,” Stricklin continued. “Rumor has it that some infamous industry members are already pulling out the bustiers”
Blame it on PrideBucks, BadPuppy, ManPass, Cybersocket, Bedfellow, and CCBill. They’re sponsoring the show at the Valley Art Theater next to the Phoenix Forum host hotel – and, yes, the festivities include a showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the cult classic horror spoof which has been a midnight-showing staple on the art and college town circuit from practically the week it was released in the mid-1970s.
But The Rocky Whorer Dicksure Show has also presented a vital supply if you’re planning to go to this one: a survival guide, where those virgin and veteran alike can get a crash course in getting the most out of the party and the movie. And, yes, you’re also encouraged to dress up, the way audiences for the film traditionally do.
The Rocky Whorer organizers also plan pre-party promotions, giveaways, and a costume contest.
