Sprint has kicked specialty ringtones to another level by offering customers using some multimedia cell phones music video ringtones, the company said this week.
Available now on the Sanyo MM-5600 multimedia phone, with other handsets set to get them later on, Sprint customers can download and store music videos for ringtone clips by Crime Mob, Big & Rich, T.I., and other Warner Music performers.
This amplifies an earlier Sprint program involving selling ringtones based on music clips but without the video side of them. Sprint is planning to offer film, comedy, and sports clip ringtones in the future. The company already offers a music video channel for cell phones for $6 a month.
Ringtones are expected to be worth $724 million in revenue by 2009, JupiterMedia has estimated.
