The gorgeous Katie Morgan claims to have a nightmare about finding herself on stage naked – but that's exactly what she is for a half hour on HBO's latest documentary dealing with the adult industry, which premiered last night.
Viewers who don't know the busty blonde personally may think that her constant smile and bouncy attitude are faked for the show – which only means they should watch more of her movies, 'cause that's pretty much what she's like when not preoccupied with some personal problem. She's just a very sweet lady.
On the other hand, one has to watch to the very end of this special to find that several of the photos of her earlier life are in fact faked, er, recreated; probably good that they blacked out her "family's" eyes, then ...
But the show careens between an in-depth examination of her life, both physical and mental, and snippets of her performances in more than two dozen productions – and the documentary doesn't shy away from much. For instance, there's a long section about Katie's time in prison for smuggling marijuana across the Mexican border, complete with a copy of her mugshot (she's defendant #79836 – unless that one's faked as well.)
Katie's first on-camera scene was for More Dirty Debutantes 197 – and anyone who wants to see what kind of transformation can occur in the course of a porn star's career can simply compare her look in that feature with her look now – and savor "now." She discusses that it's because her boobs shrunk when she lost the weight that's evident in that first scene, that she decided to have them enlarged.
Along the way, we learn a lot about the self-described "ditzy" beauty: She got her name by combining the "real" first name of Scarlet O'Hara with the last name of one of her favorite drinks, Capt. Morgan Rum. We learn that she doesn't work with "new-new guys" – "Let somebody else break 'em in" – and that before each scene, she discusses the upcoming action with her partner(s). We also learn that she doesn't do anal on camera, that she still masturbates – "Nobody loves me like me" – and that her scripts "never" make sense. (Oops; hope Jonathan Morgan, scripter of Wicked's award-winning Space Nuts, in which Katie had a prominent role, doesn't catch wind of that!)
Some random Morgan thoughts:
•About a porn star's earnings: "A great month is $10,000."
•About her fans: "It turns me on knowing people are being turned on by me."
•About on-camera sex: "Cumming on camera is difficult, but it does happen ... I don't always get my ya-yas."
•About on-camera sex in bed: "It's like Christmas for porno."
•About her on-camera partners: "My favorite is definitely two boys ... I have the issue of liking to be the center of attention."
•"I really do like sex. I really am kind of freaky. I'm not a crazy nympho; I'm not doing every guy I walk past, but I like my sex. That's how I got into this."
•About blowjobs: "They're not my specialty ... but it's kind of boring for me if I'm not getting anything back from it."
•About playing a role: "It's all the same character, just different outfits ... My acting skills are not what I'm known for."
"I like to take IQ tests online for fun ... I'm a porn star with a genius IQ [165]."
Bottom line, despite the squeaky voice, Katie Morgan comes across as an aware woman who's made a very successful career choice – and is a damned good representative of the adult industry.
