A teenage girl has sued Warner Music Group, Atlantic Records and others for allegedly coercing her to be in pornographic music videos.
The girl, who used the pseudonym Jane Doe in court documents, claimed that the rock band Buckcherry asked fans to show up to shoot a music video at the Key Club nightclub where the underage girl was given alcohol to drink and was filmed exposing her breasts, kissing another woman and dancing against a strip pole, The Los Angeles Times reported today.
The band reportedly advertised for extras for the shoot on the teen social networking site, MySpace.com.
The lawsuit said the video was posted on the band’s Web site and distributed online, along with a “behind the scenes” video that mentioned the girl’s first name and showed nudity and along with band members quipping that the shoot seemed like porn.
The suit also alleges that the girl suffered emotional distress after the video’s airing.
Douglas Silverstein, an attorney who represents the girl, said his client was being called a lesbian at school and that she has had to change schools after the video’s airing. The suit also claims she was never asked for identification.
But attorney Skip Miller of the law firm Miller Barondess which represents the band, said IDs were checked at the location and that signs barring minors were also posted.
A Warner Music executive said the video was edited to cut out the girl after her mother called to complain about it. The company also hired an organization to remove the original video from circulation to take it down from Web sites that had posted it illegally.
