Recall Election Back On; Carey Flips Off Leno

The California recall election is back on schedule today after the 11-judge “en banc” panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed an earlier decision by the court that postponed the election until as late as March of next year.

Which pleases gubernatorial candidate Mary Carey just fine. “It’s time for this to be over. We need to decide who our leader is and then get to work correcting the problems of our state,” Carey told AVN.com

October 7 is date of the election.

The election was placed on hold last week by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The three judge panel ruled that the punch card voting system, similar to those used in Florida during the controversial presidential election in 2000, used in six California counties would produce flawed election results.

Last night Carey was one of 80 candidates from the field of 130 still running to appear on the Tonight Show. Only eight candidates were highlighted, including Carey.  It was no surprise that Carey was the hit of the evening, deftly popping her middle finger towards host Jay Leno in response to Leno introducing Carey as "the only hole in the ballot that's already been punched."

According to Carey, Leno approached her during a break in the show and commented on the gesture, which was blurred out for home viewers.

“He told me I had great timing,” Carey said.

Carey worked the press after the show, delighting journalists with her offer to let them feel her breasts and even suggesting that she'd like to have sex with fellow candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger.
