Former adult performer Rebecca Lord is back. Though not completely.
The French-born Lord stars in the quirky independent film I Am a Sex Addict, written and directed by Iranian filmmaker Caveh Zahedi, who is also its producer and leading man.
Lord plays the wife to Zahedi’s sex-addicted character who has an obsession for prostitutes. But Lord doesn’t stray far from her porn roots as she manages to give an actual blowjob to her leading man in one of the movie’s explicit sex scenes, said to rival Lord’s hardcore thespian work.
The movie shows Zahedi, who portrays himself in a pseudo-documentary of his life, as he goes from prostitute to prostitute in order to satisfy his sexual needs.
Lord had made her adult film debut in 1993, having gone on to star in more than 200 movies before leaving the business in 2002.
Critics have so far given mixed reviews to the film, with at least one critic complaining about its confusing storyline, while another hails Zahedi as another Woody Allen.
Although the movie is showing in certain markets, it’s unclear when it will open nationwide due to a dispute between Landmark Theatres owner Mark Cuban and Comcast, which refuses to carry Cuban’s HDNet and HDNet Movies channels.
The movie is part of a deal between the film’s distributor, IFC Films and Cuban’s cable video on demand service which was scheduled to show the movie on cable at the same time it was released in theaters earlier this month.
