MONTREAL—Adult Time studio Pure Taboo presents The Secrets We Share, a haunting new feature from award-winning director Bree Mills that “plunges into the darkest corners of family dynamics, forbidden intimacies, and the unspoken secrets that can tear lives apart,” a movie description reads.
The movie debuts today on AdultTime.com and PureTaboo.com.
Starring an ensemble cast including Penny Barber, Lilly Bell, Max Fills, Axel Haze, Tyler Cruise and Charles Dera, the movie “is anchored by raw, uncompromising performances that exemplify Pure Taboo’s signature approach: pushing boundaries while merging erotic fantasy with dramatic thriller,” the description addd.
Producers Siouxsie Q and Michael Vegas also contributed to the plot’s layered narrative.
The story follows a 20-year-old exchange student (Lilly Bell) “whose summer immersion abroad spirals into a nightmare when she becomes entangled in a household poisoned by secrecy and an unsettling intimacy between a mother (Penny Barber) and her withdrawn son (Max Fills). What begins as a seemingly innocent stay unravels into coercion, isolation and fractured identities,” the description continues.
“With The Secrets We Share, I wanted to explore the most forbidden corners of family roleplay—the unspoken bonds and private tensions that can be more provocative than explicit acts,” said Mills, who is also Adult Time’s chief creative officer. “At its core, it is the story of a mother and son bound by an unsettling intimacy that unravels their already fractured family. Beneath that, the film also examines incel culture: how feelings of isolation, resentment and entitlement can fester in the shadows, warping both identity and relationships.”
