MENLO PARK, Calif.—PASS-certified at-home STI testing kit Pro13 has expanded to the platform ProDx Health, at prodxhealth.com, which has launched the new Assured MoFi ID Program to ensure the identity and authenticity of the samples tested for PASS certification.
While ProDx Health maintains its current level of CLIA certification, the Assured MoFi ID Program sets a new standard for all of the service’s PASS-certified Pro13 testing.
There are three key steps for Assured MoFi User/Sample Authentication. The first is a government-issued document and identity verification process conducted through an independent identity verification agency. The client uploads official documents to the portal when they sign up for a tele-visit. During the tele-visit, ProDx obtains a picture of the client and matches it to the ID and stores the photo for future checks.
During the televisit, a ProDx Health technician explains the tests. Then, test samples are collected by the client and placed in a sealed bag using a uniquely coded, tamper-proof security seal, which links the person's authenticated identity to a unique personal molecular pattern—the client’s “MoFi ID.” A ProDx Health technician then secures the test samples and ensures the molecular fingerprint is tied to the authenticated client, to establish the ID.
Once a MoFi ID is established, no televisit is required for all subsequent Pro13 tests. Clients can send samples that are checked against their “molecular fingerprint.” In the lab, the Pro13 Molecular Fingerprint (MoFi) also serves as a scientific tool designed to ensure the authenticity of all the clients' samples in a kit.
“MoFi was built to protect the client, their partners and the industry by verifying that all submitted specimens from an individual match their identity within a kit and over time," a ProDX representative said. "Each submitted sample contains a small number of human cells and client DNA. It’s this step, which involves initial spot checks and ongoing monitoring over time, that ensures client authenticity and security. MoFi evaluates a small panel of unique genetic markers to test this DNA and confidently establish that the samples came from the right person.”
