Private Installing Travel Retail Points At High-Traffic Airports

Adult entertainment giant Private Media Group is installing dedicated Private Travel Retail points of sale in the high-traffic airports at Zurich, Switzerland and Vienna, Austria, the company announced yesterday.

The product movement for these points of sale will include Private-branded DVD titles and merchandise aimed at complementing the core product, Private said in an announcement.

"Traffic through these two airports exceeded 25 million passengers in 2002," Private said. "Given the large quantity of adult media already sold in airports around the world within traditional press outlets, (we see) an exciting opportunity within the Travel Retail sector."

The company said there are over five hundred potential sites for the Travel Retail points of sale around the world in major, busy airports. They're also in discussion with an unnamed "leading travel retail operator" about future Private-brand retail points of sale beyond Zurich and Vienna.

“Private, throughout our 37 year operating history, has consistently sought to be the first to enter into new channels of distribution for adult content," aid president and chief executive officer Charles Prast. "Thanks to our commercial reputation, public listing, and brand we have become a trusted partner for mainstream distributors seeking to capitalise on the growing market for adult content.

"Clearly Travel Retail is a natural progression for our sales and branding strategy," Prast continued. "We are highly optimistic about the opportunities both for Private and our partners in this sector and expect that each point of sale will generate well in excess of $100,000 in annual revenues for Private.”
