Private Expands Wireless Distribution into Australia

Barcelona-based Private Media Group is expanding its wireless content distribution into Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Under a deal signed with Australia-based Nomad NetworX, the company will be able to distribute a variety of adult content to the region’s estimated 50 million subscribers.

“Nomad NetworX is a well-known local player in the arena of mobile content aggregators in the Asia pacific region,” said Tim Clausen, Private’s director of wireless.

“Private has been building a vast library of glamour and soft erotica content in order to service markets like Australia, whose legislation and laws prohibit harder content.”

Already, the company is providing content for cell phones and other mobile devices in 22 countries by 49 mobile communications companies.

According to David Kane, research analyst for Wireless World Forum, the South African mobile market is expanding rapidly, with close to 30 million mobile users by 2007 or more than the Canadian and Australian markets combined.
