Playboy TV Launches Hip Hop Programming Block Tomorrow Night

Tomorrow night Playboy TV will launch Playboy’s Jump Off, a hip hop orientated programming block consisting of three original half-hour shows that will air each Saturday night for the next four weeks.

Jump Off is what remains of a production and programming deal with HYPE TV (Hot Young People’s Entertainment Television), an aspiring uncensored hip hop music channel that was backed in part by Sean “P. Diddy” Combs. In January, it was announced that programming from HYPE TV would begin airing on May 8.

“The programming we originated with HYPE morphed into Jump Off,” Frank Marchesini, a spokesperson for Playboy TV, told AVN.com. “We’re going to see how it does and there’s some talk about doing some other stuff as well.”

But for now, there is a month’s worth of original hip hop orientated programming on Playboy’s Jump Off. Lil’ Jon and the Eastside Boyz, Trick Daddy, G-Unit, “Uncle Luke” Campbell, Jadakiss and Cee-Lo are just some of the artists that will be featured during the next month.

The Jump Off begins with “100 Proof” an uncensored, cinema verity-style series that offers a voyeuristic approach by taking viewers on location to witness intimate peeks at celebrity with sexuality, music and everything in between as the focus. The show’s first guest, actor Mekhi Phifer, best known for his role as Dr. Gregory Pratt on NBC’s “ER”, learns the intricate art of nude body painting, while rapper Jadakiss takes a Cardio Strip Tease class.

Immediately after “100 Proof” will be a show dedicated to uncensored music videos. “5 Deadly Videos” is hosted by Ed Lover, the former host of Yo! MTV Raps.

Examples of the videos that will be show include uncensored and uncut versions of Nelly's controversial "Tip Drill," Jadakiss' "Knock Yourself Out," and an old Tupac video for the song "How Do U Want It."

Dubbed by Entertainment Weekly as the “new queen of randy hip hop,” Trina, a female rapper from Miami known as the "Diamond Princess," rounds out Jump Off as the host of “Queen of Clubs.”

On “Queen of Clubs” women will compete for the title of Queen of Clubs, which comes with cash and other prizes, by creating their own erotic video. Celebrity judges like Bone Crusher, Aries Spears (“Mad TV”), Kurupt and Jagged Edge will name the winners.

Playboy’s Jump Off programming block will run for the next four consecutive Saturdays from 9p.m. to 10:30p.m. EDT and 10p.m. to 11:30 p.m. PDT.
