Playboy Names Glasscock Division VP, Video-on-Demand

James Glasscock has been hired as vice president, video-on-demand for the Playboy Entertainment Group.

In this new position, Glasscock will manage all aspects of the company's video-on-demand business and be a liaison with Playboy's distribution partners with the goal of implementing distribution, and optimizing revenue and subscriber satisfaction, specifically related to VOD and SVOD product.

Glasscock will work closely with Playboy's Craig Simon, executive vice president, sales and affiliate relations and Mark Mauceri, divisional vice president, programming. He will report to Ned Nalle, president of programming for the Playboy Entertainment Group, and will be based in the company’s Los Angeles media center office.

“As overall consumer awareness and usage of video-on-demand continues to increase, it is our job as the leading content provider of lifestyle entertainment for adults to make sure we are offering the best possible on-demand solutions to our cable and satellite partners,” Nalle said. “James is joining us to make sure we optimize our on-demand strategy and continue to serve as industry pioneers providing Playboy TV consumers with the unique and entertaining viewing experience they have come to expect. Prior to joining Playboy, Glasscock was the director of mew media business development at Turner Broadcasting System Inc., where he was responsible for developing and executing non-linear distribution for the Turner brands across broadband, VOD, interactive/enhanced television and wireless platforms.

While at Turner, he developed and launched advertising supported video-on-demand for CNN, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, TBS and TNT on Comcast and Time Warner Cable. Glasscock has also served as Director of New Ventures for Zone Ventures and as an associate at KPMG Digital Media Incubator.

Glasscock has a BA in accounting from the University of San Diego and served five years active duty in the U.S. Navy. He is currently a member of the Cable Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) and the On Demand Consortium.
