Playboy Enterprises plans to develop downloadable images of Playmates plus downloadable Adult ringtones, or “moan tones,” for American cell phone users.
Playboy plans to introduce the moantones plus Adult-themed cell phone games as well as the Playmate images for American carriers, though no carriers have yet agreed to offer adult entertainment.
Perhaps to be expected, critics think that’s only a matter of time, and they’re not amused.
“It’s going to be everywhere,” Morality in Media spokesman Bob Peters told reporters, saying titillation on the cell phone would be just one more thing for parents to worry about with more kids using cell phones now than ever before.
“There’s no way you can keep kids away from pornography on cell phones,” Peters continued, “unless it’s restricted at the source.”
Playboy Enterprises has promised to include safeguards to keep kids from seeing Adult material on the cell phone. The company has not yet released a timetable for the American versions of the cell phone Playmate images or the coming moantones and adult-themed games. Playboy already provides these services to cell phones in other countries.
