LAS VEGAS—AVN Hall of Famer Phoenix Marie has launched her own new eponymous studio brand. Phoenix Marie Productions launches today with its debut release, a marriage-based drama, Forsaking All Others.
The movie’s trailer, filled with lush, natural light, opens with the question, “Love. Marriage. Relationships—Defined by whose standards?” Marie stars in the lead role and, for the first time, also wrote, directed and edited the project. Her on-screen husband is played by fellow Hall of Famer Lexington Steele, with the cast rounded out by Coco Lovelock, Ashley Lane, Parker Ambrose, Isiah Maxwell and Mighty Dee.
Forsaking All Others features four 45-minute sex scenes and is available to stream now on AdultEmpire.com and can be pre-ordered in DVD format from PhoenixMarie.com, with a street date of September 8.
“So, I basically watched Baby Girl, with the beautiful Nicole Kidman in it,” Marie told AVN, “and I really loved the power dynamic of a woman who was married but then had this little side piece kind of vibe, where he was younger and fun, but still had that traditional marriage role. I really feel like our society in general is bringing us to more of an open relationship concept.”
The studio is a new direction for Marie, who started her adult career in 2007, and has been a Penthouse Pet and is also a member of the XRCO and Urban X Halls of Fame, with more than 1,500 performing credits over nearly two decades spanning virtually every top adult studios.
“You know, I feel the production companies are kind of getting overlooked by a lot of girls nowadays with the OF markets and your LoyalFans and your ManyVids, and people saying they're porn stars but not actually doing the production side of the work,” she said, noting that this motivated her to produce studio level content featuring herself and other performers.
“I could easily just stay Phoenix Marie with an OF page and monetize, but without there being little companies doing big things, you don't have any challenges to other companies to, you know, expand and grow as well,” Marie added.
She looks forward to taking the reins behind the camera and adding to her new catalog with more features and BDSM content, having been a popular domme highlighted by her work for Kink. Her fans have inspired some of her ideas for projects.
“I feel after the 20 years of being in this industry, really like being Phoenix Marie. Fans have stuck by me through everything, and they've never wavered. I'm very thankful that they're dedicated to the brand of me. I've done it all, actually, so, it's like, hey, I can make this fantasy come to life because I know what it is we want to show,” she said.
Marie also looks forward to continuing her role as an ambassador for Vixen Media Group, with its Blacked and MILFY labels. She said that the companies she works with have all been supportive of her projects.
“I feel like the fact that we get to be around such amazing, influential people makes us better performers and directors. Where a lot of people may be stuck to one genre—but I was just like, I'm here to learn myself and learn what I like and what I don't like,” Marie concluded.
