Veteran publishing executive Mark Healy has been named editor-in-chief for Penthouse magazine, the publication announced today.
Diane Silberstein, president and publisher of the magazine’s parent company, Penthouse Media Group, said Healy will officially join the company on Oct. 30 under the company’s new ownership.
“Mark’s years of experience in the men’s field, combined with his own innate professional sensibility, equip him with a vision for Penthouse to be THE key magazine for young me today,” Silberstein said.
Peter Bloch, vice president, editorial, said Healy’s experience as editor at Gentlemen’s Quarterly and other magazines make him well suited do take on this latest challenge.
“Mark’s skill as an editor and write and his ideas for Penthouse’s future make him ideal to guide us as we make the transition to a total men’s lifestyle magazine. I’m thrilled that he will be leading our team.”
The 38-year-old Healy had been articles editor at GQ since 2003, having worked as that magazine’s senior editor and in the same capacity at Details magazine and as associate editor at Rolling Stone.
“Like Millions of men my age, I was fan of the magazine in the 80s,” Healy said.
“And I am eager to reinvigorate it and to build on the radical improvements that Peter and his staff have made in the past six months. There’s a tremendous amount of power and potential in the Penthouse brand.”
Healy is a University of Vermont, Burlington graduate with a B.A. in English. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two daughters.
