Pennsylvania Strip Club Files Suit Against Borough

On Monday, Bottoms Up Enterprises and Island International Ventures filed a federal lawsuit against the borough of Homestead. The suit claims that local council adopted a stricter adult-business ordinance after learning that the two companies planned to open a Scores gentlemen's club in the area.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the strip-club entrepreneurs said that officials "illegally adopted new regulations in an attempt to thwart the business."

The lawsuit argues that Homestead's new regulations for adult businesses are unconstitutional. Some of the stricter measures, which were adopted in July of 2006, include distance requirements between patrons and dancers and a "no tipping" policy for entertainers.

In the prospective strip clubs favor is last year's federal appeals court ruling which found that Pennsylvania's stringent law regarding "lewd" entertainment infringed on free speech protections.
