After weeks of remodeling and more than $1 million in improvements, the Palomino Club is scheduled to reopen tonight under new management.
“We’re really excited about reopening and giving our customers a chance to see the improvements,” said Adam Gentile, who acquired the club earlier this year.
With the addition of new lights, a slew of television sets showing sporting events and a new paint schemes and decorations throughout its various rooms, the Palomino is transformed with 21st century technology and motifs, Gentile said of the club, located at 1848 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
“We have 15 big screen TVs where you can get different games at once and we have a bunch of TV screens dedicated to sports stats and betting lines.”
The stage itself has also been revamped with lighting that has 5,000 separate combinations to illuminate the performers.
“But the stage is really the unique thing about the club,” he said.
“It’s designed like a runway for woman to do classic burlesque instead of going straight for the pole and dancing.”
The club originally opened in 1969 by maverick business man Paul Terry, the club served as the class of all Las Vegas strip clubs for years. But in 1992, Terry died and its subsequent ownership were unable to keep the club’s luster from fading, Gentile said.
“They just couldn’t keep the place up and it started looking old after a while and until I bought it.”
As the last of the state’s strip clubs that offer nude dancing and alcohol, the Palomino has been a continuing favorite of club devotees. Because the club’s license was transferred from its previous owner to the current one, its license allows it to serve alcohol even though current law forbids in on new clubs.
“Our license was ‘grandfathered’ in so we can serve alcohol and that really means a lot to our customers who come in.”
And the customer is what its all about, says Gentile who planned out the club’s improvements with them in mind.
“Sometimes people go too high end when they make improvements and they forget about the customer who just wants to come in and have a good time for a couple of hours, so that’s what I wanted to avoid,” he said.
Although the club will open tonight, it will have its grand opening during the Exotic Dancer Convention, the week of Aug. 21.
A 13-year industry veteran, Gentile has worked with strip club mogul Jack Gilardi and his son Michael in various positions. He also is known for producing the long-running male strip show, “Men, The Show,” currently playing at the Sapphires Gentlemen’s Club.
