At the Impact America Conference 2003, you could:
* Learn effective methods for controlling exposure and access to Internet pornography
* Learn proven legal strategies to regulate sexually oriented businesses
* Learn what works in reaching out to hurting victims in the sex industry
* Learn how to use your free speech First Amendment rights to protect your family and your community.
And "Lord" knows, we at AVN.com.were interested in learning all those things.
But...

Mr. Kernes:
"Your Registration for the Impact America Conference 2003 has been rejected due to your association with Adult Video News. Your registration fee has been placed in return mail today. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause."
So we have to ask: What have these people got to hide?
"For every one that doeth evil hateth the light" – John 3:20
And it should be (if they'll pardon the expression) one hell of a conference. A good selection of anti-porn bigwigs are scheduled to show up, including: Jan LaRue of Concerned Women for America (and formerly with the Family Research Council); Bruce Taylor of the National Law Center for Children and Families (and former Justice Department prosecutor under Bush I); Rick Schatz of the National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families; Stephen Crampton of the AFA [American Family Assn.] Center for Law & Policy; Rob Jackson of the Institute for Sexual Integrity (one of whose functions is, "Addressing and preventing sexual problems in Christian leadership"); and of course, Phil Burress, founder and president of Citizens for Community Values.
Topics for lecture will include: Solutions for a Sexualized Culture; Protecting Your Children in an X-rated World; Eliminating Sex Businesses in Your Community; Perspectives from a Spouse Support Group; Reaching Out to Victims; Obscenity Law; Victims of Strip Bars; and Who are the Pornographers? – all of which we'd have been very interested to learn more about (especially that last one) and, of course, report on it here, but apparently, such will not be the case.
However, for those in the Columbus area, the conference will be taking place this Friday night, June 13, from 6-9PM, and all day Saturday at the Potter's House Church of God, 3220 Lowell Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43204, just off exit 94 of I-70, about 15 miles east of the airport. Registration is only $25 for what should prove to be an excellent education.
Registrations were supposed to have been received by June 6, and alas, the brochure notes, "Limited seating: Registrations processed on a first-come, first-served basis" – but would they turn away a poor pilgrim who, at the last minute, decided he/she wanted to learn how to fight the "scourge of pornography"? We don't think so!
Also, child care IS available!
AVN. com can only urge all of its readers to become involved in their communities. After all, as the Impact brochure also states,
"You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world" – Matthew
