ObjectCube, a provider of Video-on-Demand solutions for the Adult industry, is celebrating its three-year anniversary in style: banner sales for the Toronto-based firm, a new venture with NATS, and the announcement that it has sold off its mainstream division to concentrate 100 percent on Adult clients.
“In the past year 95 percent of revenue and 100 percent of our profit came from Adult clients, so we made the decision to concentrate strictly on the Adult market,” said ObjectCube CTO and founder Jay Janarthanan, adding that the Adult industry is the only vertical where Internet streaming technology has been successfully monetized.
Over the past three years, ObjectCube’s VoD solution has become a successful solution in the Adult VoD marketplace, used, the company said, by almost 95 percent of Adult VoD providers including AEBN, Adam & Eve, BestMovies.com, XonDemand, XonAir, and many more.
“We don’t have marketing or sales staff, everyone in the company is a software engineer,” said Janarthanan. “Our product sells because it’s the best out there and people realize it’s more cost-effective to buy it from us rather than building it in-house.”
ObjectCube also announced a partnership with NATS, an affiliate tracking and cascading billing solution in the Adult marketplace. The Next-generation Administration & Tracking System allows users to provide and maintain a state-of-the-art affiliate program, enabling increased exposure and profit. ObjectCube VoD software will use NATS as their default software to manage affiliates and cascade billing.
“We were looking at the option of developing our own affiliate management/cascade billing software into the ObjectCube VoD solution, but we found the guys at NATS had done a better job than anyone else, so we decided to integrate into their product instead of building our own,” remarked Janarthanan.
NATS Partner John Albright said, “We are excited to be working with Jay and ObjectCube to fully integrate NATS with their VoD solution. VoD is an emerging segment of the online Adult industry where we see a substantial amount of growth over the next few years.”
ObjectCube will be releasing a slew of new products in 2005 targeting the expanding VoD market. These new products will include advanced cataloging system for VoD and a download manager said to download files much faster than what’s currently available in the market. In addition, ObjectCube will release pay-per-click technology and search engine optimization based on probability theory.
Important VoD support products such as a fraud detection module, Webcam software, and support for the Macintosh platform will also become part of the ObjectCube suite of products in 2005.
“2005 is going to be the year of Video-on-Demand,” said Janarthanan. “A few months ago we saw that broadband users had surpassed dialup users for the fist time in the U.S., and this is a turning point in the industry.”
He added, “Broadband speed is also improving with a lot of providers offering 3 megs and up, which enables us to deliver true DVD-quality videos.”
