Not the Ramones? Not Chopped Liver, Neither

Nothing short of exuberant joyfulness pulsed through the air Friday night at King King nightspot on Hollywood Blvd. as porn/rock combo Not the Ramones peeled off a rollicking set of Ramones tunes (plus a few originals) before a bouncing crowd of adult stars, press and other partiers.

The event was being shot on video for inclusion in bandleader Kurt Lockwood’s directorial debut, an as-yet-untitled pornumentary in the style of Penelope Spheeris’ The Decline of Western Civilization films, to be released by concert co-sponsor Sex Z Pictures.

In appropriate guerilla fashion, the night kicked off with cameraman Barry Wood scrambling to capture some girl/girl/girl footage in a curtained-off upstairs area between Charlie Laine, Naudia Nyce and Not the Ramones backup singer Samantha Ryan. Security guards swarmed in to stop the action, but after some pleading from Wood (and, presumably, a mental lapse of resolution after getting a gander at what they were putting a stop to) they granted the crew five more minutes of shooting time.

The band hit the stage at around 11:30 p.m., introduced by Pat Myne and Alexis Amore, and immediately dove into a frenetic rock bash that didn’t let up for the hour or so they played, covering such Ramones classics as “I Wanna Be Sedated,” “Blitzkrieg Bop” and many others.

Proceeds from the concert will be going to AIM Healthcare’s Detox Bed Program, and in return for the gesture, AIM founder Dr. Sharon Mitchell joined the band on the song “Chinese Rock.”

In addition to the pornsters who participated in the show — including Monica Mayhem and Suicide Girl Sita (also backup singers), Tim Connelly (on drums), Nyce and Laine — some of those in attendance were: Elektra Blue, Sunny Lane, Flower Tucci, Missy Monroe, Venus, Scott Fayner, Jeff Mullen and Roy Karch.

The night was a big one for Not the Ramones, and portended an intriguing porn movie to come. The release date has not yet been announced.
