No More Fornicating Fish: SexHerald.com

That "frankly candid" adult Web magazine we told you about last December has had a name change and a slight change in direction. What was born as FuckFish.com has been renamed SexHerald.com. And mastermind Sanford Wilk said it's going to add a little investigative reporting aimed at the consumer and his First Amendment and other rights to its customary spread of news, reviews, and features.

"We did it for the impending war," Wilk said of the name change, with "war" alluding to the expected government crackdown on adult entertainment online and offline alike. "We did it for credibility in the impending war. The folks who owned the name sold us the name, we took it, we liked it, and after a couple of months' negotiation we melded our name and our team into that brand."

Wilk said SexHerald.com is building an investigative reporting team he hopes will have "a great deal of zest and enthusiasm" to probing issues related to First Amendment rights, personal privacy issues, and "basically the right to do what you want in your own bedroom.

"This team will be approaching any encroachments or any folks or organizations that would seek to infringe or limit those rights," he said emphatically. That will join stories now published or in progress concerning issues like a campus group under university sanction for holding a BDSM safety demonstration, attempts to reverse Roe v. Wade, the landmark abortion ruling, attempts in at least one state to prohibit female genital piercing while allowing male genital piercing, and more.

"We're moving now toward the true newspaper model," Wilk said, "which is not just reporting on the newest and greatest products but also upon the folks who would like to otherwise limit the personal freedoms of others."
