Nicky Starks will produce a new series, West Side Stories, for his Darkside Entertainment. It will be directed by DJ Yella, formerly of the pioneering Compton rap group NWA.
“This series,” a Darkside spokesman told AVN.com, “will have all the great music, camera and editing that have made Darkside a household name in the black gonzo adult movie industry.”
The pairing of Sparks and Yella is apt, since Starks has often acknowledged the influence of rap music on his career in the adult video industry. The NWA veteran crossed over into porn production several years ago. His DJ Yella Entertainment productions have previously been released by Elegant Angel, Sunshine Films and others.
Starks, who founded Darkside in 1997, was recently named Director of the Year by Adam Black Video magazine in its 2005 Black Video Directory.

Darkside, known for black on black sex videos exclusively, recently launched its first interracial series, Mr. Marcus’ Made for Hardcore. Jessica Darlin, Jasmine Lynn and Alicia Rhodes have been among the stars of its first three volumes. Vol, 4 is being prepped for release in 2005.
