Adult film star Nicki Hunter sang an impromptu song on the set of Neo_Pornographia 2, and it was so moving to director Michael Ninn that he made it part of the video’s soundtrack.
Hunter, whose hobby is singing, had been cast in the first two volumes of Ninn’s Neo series as the director’s alter ego, participating in every scene without actually having sex. In the second installment, there was a break on the set before the final scene in the large hall where the Ninn Worx crew was filming, and Hunter saw the painted gold stage and felt inspired.
“I decided to jump on the stage. I said, ‘I’m going to sing a little,’” she recalled. “It was whatever my heart was feeling at the time, emotion I just put into words. It was completely acappella. There was no music, no tune. I just made it up as I went along. I didn’t even know how it was going to come out. I had no idea where I was going with the song.”
Her song grabbed everyone’s attention. “They just let me go for like five minutes and followed me around with the cameras and took pictures. By the end, the entire room was silent and then everyone started clapping and Michael Ninn came up to me and he was crying. I couldn’t believe it. I said, ‘Was I that bad?’ He had tears in his eyes, and he said, ‘That was beautiful, I can’t wait to do something with it.’”
Ninn later wrote music to go with the song, and the collaboration is what will be used in the video.
“It was phenomenal music. He only improved the song. It was absolutely gorgeous,” she said. “I’m so proud of that little song, and it couldn’t have been anything without the music Michael wrote.”
Hunter said she started singing in church when she was 3 and has been a soloist for several years. At one point she went to London to record songs for Arista Records, but never pursued a full-time career.
“It’s my hobby, it’s my passion. It’s a love,” she said.
Hunter described her singing style as “highly emotional.”
“It’s from the heart,” she said. “It’s intense emotions all put into a vocal form and if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing, you can feel it.”
Hunter, a West Palm Beach, Fla., native who started in adult in October of 2003, said she sang a couple other times in adult videos, but nothing quite like this.
“Jim Powers had me sing for a Gag Factor, and then right in the middle of my song I had a cock stuffed in my mouth. Then I sang again at the end of the scene. Skeeter {Kerkove} had me sing before,” Hunter noted.
The performer, who was nominated for Best New Starlet in January, said it is an “honor” to play Ninn’s alter ego in Neo, which is distributed by Pure Play Media.
“It’s completely surreal entertainment in a raw sort of form. It’s the same beautiful style, but it’s so much more raw, and so much more dirty, and I’m a facilitator,” she told AVN.com. “I’m like a little devil sitting on his shoulder saying, ‘You want more,’ and I’m going to give you more. I’m getting these girls and these guys to dig deeper just to please Michael Ninn. It’s always in reference to him, to make him happy, and they do.”
Ninn indicated that he would work closely with Hunter on making music for his upcoming film project Catherine this summer.
