Actor Nick Manning was stabbed in the face and neck by a would-be car-jacker in Sherman Oaks Thursday afternoon. The assailant narrowly missed his jugular vein.
Manning, however, gave way better than he got, and it was the perpetrator who had to be hauled away in an ambulance.
As the actor and co-owner of Platinum Blue Productions told AVN.com, he was on his way to appear on a radio show hosted by the Coors Light Twins. He had driven from his home in Simi Valley to his bank in Sherman Oaks, a Wells Fargo on Ventura Blvd. After leaving the bank he was sitting in his Jaguar talking to someone who’d bounced a check on him.
“Next thing I know,” he said, “I’m being car-jacked and the guy stabbed me in the face and the neck.
“I pushed my car door open and I beat the fuck out of the guy. Like, ‘Dude, are you crazy, of all people to pick as a victim you picked me? I’ll kill ya!’”
Manning sustained two stab wounds on his neck and face, as well as a bruised elbow and swollen hands — the weapons of his own that he used against his attacker. “I hit him in the teeth a bunch of times so my hands are all bitten,” he said.
“I was just pummeling this guy, he was unconscious, and some people ran out of somewhere and pulled me off of the guy and called the police. The fuckin’ cops arrested me!” he said with an ironic laugh.
“But once they sorted it all out they let me go.” Manning said the perpetrator was taken off in an ambulance and the cops told him he would be arrested.
The police wanted to put Manning in an ambulance too, “but I’m like, hey man, I’m not trusting anything other than my own doctor.”
It turns out that his doctor is also a buddy who has been staying at Manning’s place since his own house burned down. “He just happened to be sleeping there after an all-night shift.”
When Manning got home the doctor was ready to go — straight to the emergency room at Holy Cross in Northridge where he is on staff as a trauma surgeon.
“There was a six-hour wait,” Manning said, “but he took me right in the back and sewed me up.”
The doctor told him that “another inch and this would have been a potentially deadly situation.”
“My friends were great,” Manning said. “Sky [Blue, his Platinum Blue partner] was great, she called right away. Like my father said, good thing it didn’t happen to somebody else, they would have been killed. At least I could defend myself.
“I didn’t have any choice,” he added. “It’s either that or they steal my Jag, and that’s not going to happen!”
Manning said he plans to go to work tomorrow. “I’m fine. I don’t even think I’ll have a scar. This guy is a plastic surgeon, I think I’ll be all right.”
