In his new book, “The Naked Truth About Sex: A Guide to Intelligent Sexual Choices for Teenagers and Twentysomethings,” Dr. Rober Libby presents the latest information and research on disease prevention and sexual trends for young people.
Published by Freedom Press, the book argues against the current movement for abstinence in sex education while also covering such topics as sexually-transmitted diseases, masturbation, pregnancy prevention, moving past insecurities and tips for maximizing pleasure.
Libby also discusses issues involving gay relationships and gay sex along with a discussion on the value of honesty, communication and realistic expectations among sexual partners. He says that young people should make their own informed sexual choices. He says respectful and consensual sexual activity is normal and healthy and should not be considered immoral.
The author is known for his former Atlanta-based call-in radio show, “The Pleasure Dome,” in which he dished out advice on sex and relationships to young people. He is a board certified sex therapist based in Seattle and is an adjunct professor and lecturer at the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco.
