LOS ANGELES - Director Carlos Batts' Voluptuous Biker Babes will screen March 6 at midnight at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles.
Batts' feature is a remake of the sexploitation classic Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, shot in the same desert locations where the original Russ Meyer classic was filmed in the mid-'60s. The director's plus-sized muse April Flores stars in the Tura Satana part.
The New Bev has hosted a series of midnight porn screenings, showcasing such vintage XXX features as The Opening of Misty Beethoven, Bill Lustig's The Violation of Claudia, and a tribute to the late Henri Pachard.
Voluptuous is the first new adult production to premiere at the New Beverly since the theater's long-ago incarnation as an X-rated movie house. Batts' movie is available on DVD from Adam & Eve Pictures.
The New Beverly is also home to the ongoing Grindhouse Film Festival series. This week, the festival presented a dynamite double-bill of Jamaa Fanakaa's Penitentiary II and the rare Rudy Ray Moore movie Petey Wheatstraw: The Devil's Son-in-Law.
The theater is located at 7165 West Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles.
