The new porn Web magazine Fleshbot.com launched November 10, presented in blog format, and the latest online entry from Gawker Media president Nick Denton.
“The challenge was, ‘Can you come up with something that is dirty and which is truly pornography rather than some sort of airbrushed erotica and make it interesting enough for people to talk about and write about and to link to?’” said Denton. “We are trying to make the writing sassy and intelligent, but it’s not pompous. It gets off on the subject matter.”
Fleshbot.com features all the type of pornography content that digital technology and Web distribution has made possible, which includes CGI and morphed images, amateur girls, Webcams, sex blogs, hentai and yaoi, accidental smut, vintage erotica, celebrity paparazzi, and streaming hardcore video.
“There’s whole new genres of porn out there that haven’t been evident in video magazines,” said Denton. “The idea was to take some of the new stuff that’s emerging online and bring that up to readers in a why that was intelligent and professional.”
With the Paris Hilton sex tape hullabaloo currently The Hot Topic, Fleshbot.com debuts at a most agreeable time in the adult-mainstream cosmos. Already on the site are three stills for view of the alleged tape of the floozy hotel heiress and then boy toy Rick Solomon. The site also claims a source has sent them an actual copy of the tape. Not bad for a first day in Cyberspace.
With two other Gawker Media publications – deliciously gossipy Gawker casting its witty gaze on pop culture news and Manhattan media goings on, and Gizmodo chronicling the latest gadgets, gizmos, and new technologies – Fleshbot.com will engage with a popular and sundry component of the entertainment spectrum that can be economically viable as well.
“We look at three factors: Is there contact to link to, is there demand amongst readers and is there any advertising?” said Denton. “It would be perverse to take a look at pornography and rule it out. It clearly meets the three criteria.”
Fleshbot.com will be edited by Jonno d'Addario, with Pornblography’s Carly Milne acting as Fleshbot Scout. Denton said the site would be updated up to a dozen times-per-day.
