Nectar Releases First Interracial Title

Sao Paulo: Black and Brown Samba, the sophomore directorial effort of Eric Avalon, streets today. The title is Nectar Entertainment’s first interracial release.

Sao Paulo is Brazil’s largest city, a cosmopolitan metropolis comparable to New York, but with a tropical flare. Avalon believed the city was a fitting locale for the title because of its reputation as the most ethnically diverse place on the planet.

“The irony is that I don’t think that any of the performers viewed it as interracial – it was just good fun and great sex to them. As it should be,” he said.

Sao Paulo: Black and Brown Samba has an all-native cast, black men and brown women. “Brown was chosen as a catch-all description because many of our performers had a number of different ethnic backgrounds – and so rather than interracial, I suppose you could say in this it’s more of a study of skin tones,” Avalon added.

Nectar plans for at least two more Brazilian, black-brown interracial titles.

“It’s common knowledge that interracial titles are one of the fastest moving segments in today’s marketplace,” Brett Reez, vice president of sales for Nectar Entertainment, said. “But the black-brown sub-niche is vastly underserved, so this title should move off of shelves very quickly.”

Even though Paulo is only the second video Avalon has helmed, years of working with Nectar’s critically acclaimed, contract director Marty Zion have helped with his progression.

“We both take an epic approach with our work, creating a visually stimulating erotica that offers a stylized sex-positive alternative to the standard adult video fare that floods the market,” Zion said.

All of Avalon’s titles are being released under Nectar’s flagship Zion line, an endorsement of his work by his mentor. “Eric is very much an integral part of my own productions, and his contributions go a long way to establishing the ‘Marty Zion’ look, so it’s no wonder we have similar styles,” he said.

Avalon, a 2005 AVN nominee in the Best Editing–Video category for his work on Zion's Metropolis, continues to run Nectar’s post-production department, although at the moment he is in Brazil shooting six more videos.
