Naughty But Nice in Vancouver

You might think that one straight month of rain would be enough to dampen attendees’ spirits at the 5th annual Taboo Naughty But Nice Sex Show, but you’d be dead wrong.

With products from innovative lubes to glass and ceramic dildos to specially designed cardboard cups that enable a woman to pee standing up, the show is out to prove that there just might be something new out there whether it’s under the sun or not.

Thousands of visitors attended the show, some slipping in from the Bridal Show being held in the hall next door. (The Taboo show offered a "two for the price of one" ticket to Bridal show attendees.)

In addition to the retail sales floor, there was plenty of activity to entertain the masses. Both the main stage and the seminar center featured full-day line-ups designed to amuse and educate their audiences.

The adult novelty industry’s current trend toward marketing to female consumers is as evident here at the Vancouver Taboo show as it is in the United States and Europe. Companies like Naturally Intimate and Medexus are in the forefront when it comes to creating female-friendly lubricant, and generally offering products specifically designed to enhance and encourage female sexual response.

Female Freedom Enterprises is another company that is clearly out to change women’s lives. Its P-mate cup — the one that allows women to pee standing up — was perhaps the most unique product on the convention floor. Other exciting Canadian novelty companies included Earthly Products, manufactures of ceramic dildos; Naughty N Nice; Open Sunday and Bliss Toys.
